The 1978 film, starring John Belushi, tells the story of the troubled Delta House, set in the fictional Faber College. Belushi plays the character "Bluto" Blutarsky, a heavy-drinking student at the College. The sweatshirt is inspired by the one worn by Belushi that has become synonymous with the film.
